About Us

Paddling on the Saugeen RiverSaugeen Conservation was established in 1950 as a result of increased flooding problems in and around the communities developed along the Saugeen River. It has a jurisdiction of over 4,675 sq. km (1,805 square miles). There are currently 15 member municipalities within the Authority jurisdiction.

The Saugeen River is approximately 195 kms (120 miles) in length and has five major tributaries. Saugeen Conservation owns over 8,498 hectares (21,000 acres) of Conservation Areas and Lands comprised of important wetland complexes, managed forests and recreation parks.

The main office of Saugeen Conservation is located approximately 5 kms south of the Town of Hanover off County Rd #10. Follow signs.
