Durham Conservation Area is
situated in an ideal location, nestled along a picturesque stretch
of the winding Saugeen River. It is also a leisurely trek
from the heart of the Durham town centre. It covers over 61
ha (150 acres) including over 3 kms (2 miles) of Saugeen River
frontage. Scenic McGowan Falls is one of the highlights of this
beautiful park.
A wide variety of activities can be enjoyed year-round within
the park, by both campers and day-users.
Additional facilities which are available for guest convenience
include picnic shelters, ideal for group gatherings or family
reunions. Modern shower and washroom facilities as well as a
trailer dumping/recycling station are centrally located. Firewood
is also for sale on-site.
Durham Conservation Area also hosts a number of activities
during the camping season, including interpretive programs (depending
on the availability of summer staff), corn roasts and jamborees.
Durham Conservation Area is also a popular destination for enthusiastic
anglers of all ages.
From the 401 west, take Highway 6 north.
At the top of the hill in Durham, turn right (east) onto historic
Durham Road
(Grey
Rd. 27) and drive 1.6 km (1 mile) to the park entrance.
