SUMMER POSITIONS FOR 2017

The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority is currently seeking university/college students for the following seasonal positions at Saugeen Bluffs and Durham Conservation Areas:

Gate Attendant / Security

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week and requires weekend work

Wage: $11.60/hour

Start Date: Approximately May 1, 2017

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Working often in an outdoor environment

Working in the gatehouse receiving visitors and processing camping transactions

Abide by Health & Safety policies and practices

Assist visitors with campground site bookings, questions and requests

Answer inquiries via telephone and computer

Operate the CAMIS campground reservation system

Keep the superintendent and assistant superintendent updated on campsite bookings and other issues

Maintain relations with the head office in terms of necessary paperwork, brochure requests, and other Authority functions as they relate to park operations, etc.

Assist with park activities / events when required

Must be able to work weekends

Must be professional, friendly and courteous

Be responsible for handling cash and financial transactions

Operate weed eater, riding lawnmower, gator, etc.

Clean washrooms and other facilities

Keep the park clean

Some heavy lifting may be required

Patrol the park and report any security issues to the superintendent and/or the police

 

Qualifications:

 

Must be knowledgeable about computer programs in general (on the job training provided)

Able to perform manual labour

Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence (minimum G2)

Should be comfortable working with cash and calculating change in a retail setting

Must be professional, friendly and courteous

 

The SVCA will provide the following:

On the job training for the operation of grounds maintenance equipment

First aid training

WHMIS training

Health and Safety training

Uniforms
