Express your sympathy through a donation to one of the
numerous memorial forests across the watershed. For $48.00 an
individual can make a donation towards the planting of a tree
in the name of a loved one. Plant a tree as a living legacy
that your family will enjoy for many generations to come. Each
tree and each grove will contribute towards conservation through
reforestation and the many benefits that trees provide to our
environment.
The trees are planted in the spring months.
The trees are not themselves identified with the names of individuals;
instead the names of all loved ones are entered into a leather
bound book in the front foyer of the Administration Centre.
When the groves become full, the names of the deceased will
be placed on a permanent plaque at the main grove; Headquarters
Conservation Area. As the groves mature, benches will be incorporated
as well as walking trails.
Memorial Grove Ceremony
The last Sunday is June is host to the Foundation's Memorial
Grove Ceremony. Hundreds of family members come to enjoy fellowship
and remember lost loved ones. The ceremony is attended by approximately
1,000 people. It is one hour in duration and includes a tree
planting ceremony, as well as refreshments. A different member
of the clergy is invited each year to say a few words on behalf
of all those who suffer the loss of someone close.
