Moss Lake

Thirty-two hectares of this 92 ha (228 acre) property is characterized as a northern bog kettle lake.  It is a recharge, retention and source area for a tributary of the main Saugeen River.

There is a very diverse growth of flora and fauna on this unique site. Plant species include hobble bush, mountain holly, Canadian holly, Labrador tea, cranberry, painted trilliums and a variety of orchid species. Moss Lake is a Class 5 wetland.

A large section of the land south of the lake was reforested by the Ministry of Natural Resources. This Saugeen Conservation forest is managed by the Conservation Authority and has been under ownership since 1973. See property map here.
