We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued patience and understanding. With your help and cooperation, we are hoping that our park services can continue to expand in conjunction with provincial standards.   

As part of our ongoing commitment to keep our community aware of our services, campgrounds, events and programs, please be aware of the following: 

We are encouraging due diligence for all of our outdoor areas, including social distancing and remaining at home if you are feeling ill in any way.

SAUGEEN CONSERVATION ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES

  • The Administrative office (1078 Bruce Road #12, Formosa), will remain closed to the general public until further notice. We are hoping to open, limited hours, sometime in September.
  • Please be advised that our essential services are operating as normal. Staff are still working their normal work hours, either from home, the office, or our various parks.
  •  The general public and/or our regular stakeholders are welcome to call us (519) 367-3040 or email us at publicinfo@svca.on.ca for normal work issues
  • All non-essential meetings have been cancelled, as well as events, workshops, etc.
  • All education programs have been postponed and/or rescheduled.
  • Staff working out of the administration office will continue to practice social distancing and maintain enhanced cleaning and sanitizing procedures.  In addition, we are taking extra precautions to keep our offices and work surfaces clean.
  • Staff will continue to respond to inquiries, however, some delays in response time may be experienced.

SAUGEEN CONSERVATION PARKS AND LANDS

Please note:

  • Enhanced safety measures are in place at SVCA parks in accordance with public health guidelines to maintain physical distancing and comply with gathering limits.
  • Washroom use is limited to ensure visitors always stay six feet apart. Please follow in-park instructions. We have increased our cleaning schedule and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with public health guidelines.

DAY-USE AREAS (alphabetical order)

Allan Park Conservation Area (CA)

  • Trails remain open for passive recreational use
  • No picnic tables are available for use
  • SVCA encourages 2 metre social distancing from outside of a family unit

Mildmay/Carrick Managed Forest

  • This park remains closed for safety reasons as staff have not had the chance to remove trail hazards.

Stoney Island Conservation Area, Bell's Lake, Kinghurst Managed Forest, Greenock Swamp Wetland Complex

  • Trails remain open for passive recreational use such as hiking, canoeing, and nature appreciation
  • The ramp at Bell’s Lake is open
  • SVCA encourages 2 metre social distancing from those outside of a family unit

Sulphur Spring CA

  • Trails remain open for passive recreational use
  • SVCA encourages 2 metre social distancing from outside of a family unit
  • The washroom is available for use.  We have increased our cleaning schedule and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with public health guidelines. 
  • The picnic shelter is available on a first come, first serve basis for visitors.  Please note that picnic tables are not available.  You are welcome to bring your own chairs.
  • Playground equipment is not available due to the inability to sanitize between visitors

CAMPGROUNDS (alphabetical order)

 

Brucedale CA

 

  • Only seasonal campers will be permitted
  • Washroom facilities are available for use.  We have increased our cleaning schedule and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with public health guidelines.
  • Showers will remain closed until further notice
  • Playgrounds, as well, remain off-limits
  • The pavilion is open, however, please bring your own chairs
  • SVCA encourages 2 metre social distancing from outside of a family unit
  • All events are cancelled until further notice
  • Wipes are available at the dump station. Please bring your own gloves
  • The Honey Wagon will be disinfected after each use. It must be picked up and dropped off at the Superintendent's campsite

Denny’s Dam CA (Managed by the Ontario Steelheaders Association)

  • Open to both seasonal and transient camping
  • The Ontario Steelheaders Association has provided portable washrooms for use. They have implemented a strict cleaning schedule in accordance with public health guidelines
  • The picnic shelter is currently closed
  • SVCA and the Ontario Steelheaders Association encourages 2 metre social distancing from outside of a family unit
  • All events are cancelled until further notice

Durham CA

  • Only Cedarview and Pinewood Campgrounds are open to transient and seasonal campers 
  • Washrooms and the picnic shelter at McGowan Falls remain closed.
  • Showers will remain closed until further notice
  • SVCA encourages campers to come self contained, as limited washroom facilities are available 
  • We have increased our cleaning schedule and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with public health guidelines.
  • Cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer are available outside and inside washrooms to use prior to and after using the facilities.
  • The activity centre will be open (wi-fi available), however, no gatherings larger than 10 people are allowed and bring your own seating
  • The playground equipment remains closed
  • Swimming at McGowan Falls and the Middle Durham Dam is open
  • SVCA encourages 2 metre social distancing from outside of a family unit
  • All events are cancelled until further notice
  • Wipes are available at the dump station. Please bring your own gloves.
  • To maintain visitor and staff safety, equipment rentals are presently not available  
  • Trails are all open for passive recreation

McBeath Conservation Area

  • Washrooms will not be open, please bring your own shovel
  • SVCA encourages 2 metre social distancing from outside a family unit
  • Please bring your own tablecloth for the picnic tables

Saugeen Bluffs CA

  • A number of sites will be available in the Maples Campground and the Campbell Horse Camp for transient campers.  The campground will not be open to full capacity at this time.
  • SVCA encourages campers to come self contained, as limited washroom facilities are available 
  • We have increased our cleaning schedule and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with public health guidelines
  • Showers will remain closed until further notice
  • SVCA encourages 2 metre social distancing from outside of a family unit
  • To maintain visitor and staff safety, equipment rentals are presently not available  
  • Canoe access point is now open
  • The wading pool, splash pad, playgrounds and the upper picnic shelter will all be closed
  • The picnic shelter in the lower campground will be open, however no gatherings larger than 10 people are allowed, and please bring your own seating
  • All events cancelled until further notice
  • Wipes are available at the dump station. Please bring your own gloves.
  • The Sutherland Centre will be closed daily but available for private rentals
  • Trails are all open for passive recreation
  • Cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer are available outside and inside washrooms to use prior to and after using the facilities.
  • The store is open, however, please respect physical distancing
  • The laundromat is open, please abide by social distancing rules

Public Health Measures

Safety of our visitors and staff is always our top priority. We will be implementing measures to address overcrowding and promote physical distancing in our park spaces and buildings during busy visitation times by limiting occupancy for day-use and camping in select conservation parks.
