LOW WATER CONDITIONS – NORMAL

Monday, July 26th, 2021

Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority removes the Level 1 Low Water Advisory for the entire watershed as conditions return to seasonal norms. This includes areas within Arran-Elderslie, Brockton, Chatsworth, Grey Highlands, Hanover, Howick, Huron-Kinloss, Kincardine, Minto, Morris Turnberry, Saugeen Shores, South Bruce, Southgate, Wellington North, and West Grey.

After experiencing drier than normal conditions from March to May, the watershed finally received some relief in June and July, with above average rainfall recorded in both months. Following the rain event this past weekend, the watershed has now received 89% of the historical 3-month average for this time of year. In accordance with the Ontario Low Water Response (OLWR) Program, conditions are within normal limits when a watershed receives greater than 80% of the historical rainfall average over a 3-month period.

SVCA would like to thank the businesses and individuals who voluntarily reduced their water usage in response to the dry conditions.

SVCA will continue to monitor watershed conditions and provide updates as new information becomes available. To learn more about the OLWR program and for more water conservation tips, please visit Low Water Advisories
